Orana Park

Hey Guys, Gals and Non-Binary pals!

So yesterday we went to Orana Park! The year 7-8’s went, so that’s Room 5-6.

We originally went there to learn more about Biodiversity and other cool facts about animals.

Room 5 and 6 had to be split into two, So that we wouldn’t be all bunched up around an enclosure. Me being in Room six, I had to go to the room six group.

We had a lovely instructor/teacher called Bethany, she told us many facts about the different animals around the Zoo.

We only got to feed one animal, and it was the giraffes. I didn’t feed them, because I didn’t want to. People kept on making jokes about how they were my ‘relatives’. I’m not even the tallest in my class. I didn’t mind it.

There were a lot of cool animals, and I got to see a kiwi! His name was Sonic, and he was the only kiwi in the enclosure. Must be lucky having a lot of room. But kiwi’s have it a lot more difficult. There were new ‘pests’ that got introduced into New Zealand that made kiwis' lives a bit harder.

Turns out there’s a lot of animals that are endangered. It’s because of how much stuff we’re taking away from them. Like palm oil, to get palm oil we have to cut down trees. And if we take all of the trees from that area, how are the animals gonna survive?

To Sum it all up. We learnt a lot about different things, such as how to Help animals, How they help us, What they do for the environment, and How we are harming their environment.

Matariki Myths

Hey Guys, Gals and Everything in between!

So it's Matariki and of course we HAD to celebrate it. How? By doing school-work about it. I could post for some time because we recently had a production called 'Dragon Days'. I got casted as a Narrator so I had to practice a lot.

Anyways back to Matariki. Hopefully most of you know what it is. In different parts of the world, there are different ways to celebrate Matariki. There are different stories and different ways to celebrate it, and that's what makes it exciting.

If there are any errors in my work, please, please, PLEASE tell me so I can fix it.

MANGA READING!

Hola Guys, Gals and everything in between.

So in my previous post I talked about how I read 'The Winning Side'. Well for my last activity I had to make something for people to vote for. Like for example, somebody wrote- There should be more courts, and then somebody else said, there should be more room for the field. Everyone in the school would vote and then which ever got the most votes, wins.

So of course, or so I think this is fake. Which more likely is fake, but I made a poster about how there should be manga in the school libraries. Some people are familiar with it some have no clue.

Read my poster to find out! Still don't know? It's alright, just comment and i'll look through and try to explain more. Please do comment if there are any errors and what-not.

(!! I DO NOT OWN THE COVERS OF THE MANGA !!)

Reflection:
This was quite enjoyable. I did procrastinate a bit when making this, that's why it took a bit longer than expected. But overall I think I did an okay job with this. Disclaimer: When I say Japanese doesn't mean the words are Japanese, most are translated to English!

Question(s): Are there any errors in my work? Are you particularly familiar with Manga/Anime>

READING STRATEGY!

Bonjor, Guys, Gals and everything in between!

Well i'm finally posting about something that isn't Maths! (Hooray!)
Reading is be favorite subject, along with writing (I hate writing essays tho). Anyways for last week, and this week, we are learning to (WALT), use the making connections when reading to understand the text.

If your not sure what that means, I'll explain it using an example likee.
The Backyard was so old, no nobody bothered to clean it.
I can make a connection with that because, 1 I have a backyard. That might be a connection you can use.

I read a story called the winning side, and it's about a school that votes for a like a person if they agree with the statement. Basically politics for kids at school.

Back to my work here's what I've done, please comment if there are any errors or other.

Relfection:
This was quite difficult(?). Because I'm not the type of person to think outside the box much. So I really, really had to use my brain. Overall it helped me sort of image the text in my head to expand my thoughts.
8.5/10

Question(s): Are there any errors in my work? Does this strategy help you with your Reading?

Reflection:
The Activities were easy, and I completed them fast. Also Note, there is a Context page for future reading activities. But Oakley Creek is the only one there at the moment.

Questions: What did you think about my Oakley Creek activities? Are there any mistakes or errors?
Is there something that I can improve on?
